Public Buyers are always eligible to bid
- Members do not need business licenses to bid on a No License Required vehicle.
- Public buyers can bid on these vehicles without restriction.
- Certain states require business licenses to purchase vehicles depending on the title type. This varies on a state-by-state basis.
Want to bid freely without licenses?
Here's how to get started with a Broker:
- Browse our list of Registered Brokers.
- Visit the various broker websites to determine the correct fit.
- You'll need to choose a Broker that is eligible to bid in your state.
- View the Broker's Terms & Conditions, and be sure to understand their payment requirements.
- Contact the Broker via phone or email to sign up.
- Once registered, you will receive a special Member Number (under that Broker) to bid yourself.
- Sign in with that, and use Copart just like you would if you had licenses.
Who Sets Licensing Requirements?
These licensing requirements are regulated by individual state laws, not by Copart. These are strictly monitored by the government. Copart is hoping to make the path to purchase vehicles easier for public buyers by offering services that still allow bidding on vehicles. Public buyers, those without business licenses, can bid on our No License Required inventory. Alternatively, Brokers are available to help you buy vehicles you wouldn’t otherwise be allowed to bid on if you don’t have sufficient licenses.
