Common Questions

Can I save vehicles I want to view later?

Absolutely. Copart Members can add vehicles to their Watchlist for easy access to them later. When you find a vehicle you’d like to add to your Watchlist, first make sure you’re logged in to your account, then simply click on the “Watch” button next to the vehicle’s name. Once you’ve clicked the button, you’ll be able to find the vehicle on the Watchlist page of your account, either on your computer or on the Copart Mobile App.

The Watchlist is the best way to monitor the vehicles in which you’re interested. You can even receive instant notifications about the vehicles on your Watchlist.

Copart Members who are Basic or Premier can save searches as well. If you find yourself using the same search parameters frequently, you can save them and return to that specific search again with one simple click.

I’m looking for a… [specific vehicle type, make or model]. Does Copart have it?

We have over 125,000 vehicles up for bid every day, so there’s a good chance we have the vehicle you’re looking for.

The quickest way to find a specific car, truck, SUV or other vehicle is to type a word or phrase into the Search toolbar at the top of any Copart page.

You can also do advanced searches through our Vehicle Finder, available on both our website and the Copart Mobile App. Search parameters include:

  • Vehicle Type

  • Damage Type

  • Title Type

  • Featured Items (Buy It Now, Run and Drive and Pure Sale can be found here)

  • Purchase Options

  • Specialty

  • Current Bid Status

You can also search for vehicles by year, make, model, location, VIN and lot number.

If you use the same search frequently, save it and return to it with one simple click from your saved searches page or Member Dashboard any time you log in to your Copart account. If you are using the Copart Mobile App, your most recent search is always automatically saved. The next time you open the app, you’ll see it at the bottom of the screen.

If you prefer doing your searching, sorting and filtering on spreadsheets, Copart offers that option too! All Copart Members have access to download the CSV Sales Data. This spreadsheet allows you to sort vehicle data, vehicle auction dates and more.

Why does the info in lot details not reflect the actual condition of the vehicle?

Per our Member Terms and Conditions, which they accept prior to bidding – all vehicles are sold "AS-IS WHERE-IS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR MERCHANTABILITY."

'Run & Drive' or 'Engine Start' explain that this indication only confirms how the vehicle performed at the time it came in to our inventory. We do not guarantee it will start or move forward under its own power at the time they pick it up. We recommend using inspector services before bidding on the vehicle.

If Copart listed some details 'incorrectly' it needs to be brought to the attention of management prior to the sale. Once the lot is sold and leaves the property, there’s nothing that can be done.

What is the price of salvage cars? Where can I check the price the lot was sold for?

If you want to understand how much a certain vehicle is sold for in our live auctions, track multiple lots during their auction to get an idea of the range of the winning bids.

If you want to skip the auction process, you may choose cars in Buy It Now category. You may either agree to the price offered in lot details or suggest your own price and wait for seller to respond.

We do not keep data on the prices of sold lots.

How can I find out more details about a vehicle before bidding on it?

  • If you can, visit the yard in person to check the car before bidding.

  • Hire an inspector if you want to check the mechanical condition of the car. Inspectors help you make a smart buying decision. They do not work for Copart and their job is to represent the buyer. You may find inspectors for the car you are interested in by clicking on Inspection Services link in lot details.

  • Order a vehicle condition report. If available, you will find it on the lot details page. Learn more about vehicle condition reports here.

  • Buy an AutoCheck to check the history of the vehicle

  • Check the vehicle by the VIN number to see if you can find earlier pictures of the car.
