Learn how to get more Buying Power for bidding on vehicles

Increase Your Buying Power

Get an edge over the competition, increase the amount you can bid on vehicles

Tired of putting down deposits? Upgrade to Premier today.

To ensure the best bidding and buying experience with Copart, you must first be a Basic or Premier Member to unlock your Buying Power.Members with a Basic Membership receive an automatic $2,000 in Buying Power. This means you can only bid on a vehicle up to $2000. There are two options to increase Buying Power: Upgrading to Premier or Adding a Deposit.

Upgrade to Premier

Premier Membership is the best choice for most Copart buyers to get more Buying Power. All that's required is an initial registration fee and a one-time, fully refundable deposit.

Note: Premier benefits last for one year. Check out the Premier Membership FAQs for more information (including pricing).

Upgrading to Premier does not increase your bidding eligibility. Eligibility is determined by your current licenses on file and state requirements. However, it does enable you to bid on more of the vehicles that you are eligible for.

Copart will return the Premier Member security deposit upon the Member's request if all invoices and charges have been paid in full; however, the Member's account will then be downgraded to Basic Membership. To request a deposit, sign in to your account, go to Account Information page and click on “Deposit Refund.” It typically takes 1-3 business days for a deposit refund to post back to your bank account.

Basic Members

For buyers planning to purchase only a few vehicles a year, adding a deposit before you bid is another option to get more Buying Power. Your deposit on file with Copart needs to be 10% of the maximum amount you wish to bid on a vehicle.

Example: A $3,500 bid would require a deposit of $350.

After the initial deposit, you're off the hook for additional deposits!

A few things to note about deposits:

  1. Deposits cannot be applied to vehicle purchases or other invoices, but they can be refunded.

  2. Deposits made with a credit card will be refunded back to the original card account. If the account is closed, please contact Member Services and a check will be issued to you instead.

  3. Deposits made with a debit card cannot be refunded back to the card account. Our Member Services team will issue a check to you instead.

  4. Refund transactions submitted each night are processed by our bank the next business day. The cutoff time is roughly 11:15 p.m. Central Time. It typically takes 1-3 business days for a deposit refund to post back to your bank account.

  5. If a vehicle is relisted, deposit funds used to pay for the vehicle (prior to the relist) will be applied to the relist invoice. If your account has a past due relist invoice, available deposits will automatically be used to offset the outstanding invoice.
