 Willis Johnson

Willis Johnson


In 1982, Willis founded Copart with a single auction facility in Vallejo, California. He has served as chairman of our board of directors since January 2004. From 1982 until February 2010, he served as Chief Executive Officer and from 1986 until 1995, he also served as President. Willis was an officer and director of U-Pull-It, Inc., a self-service auto dismantler, which he co-founded, from 1982 until 1994 when he sold his interest in the company. He has more than forty years of experience in the salvage vehicle industry and has overseen our growth from one location in California to over 200 auction facilities and global expansion to 11 countries. Willis brings institutional history and industry expertise to our board.

 Jay Adair CEO 

Jay Adair


Jay Adair serves as Executive Chairman of Copart since April 2024. He served as our CEO from February 2010 to April 2024, after joining the company in 1989, at the age of 19. Jay worked with our founder and Chairman, Willis Johnson to learn the business under his tutelage. He previously held positions including President from 1996 to 2010 and Executive Vice President from 1995 to 1996. Jay has been instrumental in growing Copart into a multinational corporation, advancing our technological capabilities, and enabling the company to become a member of the S&P 500. He brings to our board institutional history, operational experience, and industry knowledge.

 Matt Blunt

Matt Blunt


Matt is the president of the American Automobile Policy Council, which represents the public policy interests of Stellantis N.V., Ford Motor Company, and General Motors Company, a position he has held since 2011. Matt served as the governor of the State of Missouri from 2005 to 2009. Previously, he served as Missouri’s secretary of state from 2001 through 2005 and a member of the Missouri General Assembly from 1999 through 2001. After his governorship, he has also served as a senior adviser to government affairs and financial firms. Matt is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and received four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals during his military service. He brings experience in government and public policy.

 Steve Cohan

Steve Cohan


Steve serves as the CEO and a director of Loco Ventures, Inc., a privately held company that operates various food manufacturing businesses in Northern California. From 1992 until his departure in 1997, he held executive roles in finance, accounting and business development at Copart. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MBA from the University of San Francisco, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He brings an understanding of accounting and financial reporting, and salvage vehicle industry expertise to the Copart board.

 Dan Englander

Dan Englander


Dan is managing partner of Ursula Capital Partners, an investment management firm that he founded in May 2004. He has served as a director of CKX Lands, Inc. (NYSE: CKX) since 2018, and as a director of America’s Car-Mart, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRMT) since 2007. He previously served as a director of Ambassadors International from 2009 through May 2011. From 1994 until 2004, he worked as an investment banker with Allen & Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and adds expertise in financial and business issues to our board.

 Stephen Fisher

Steve Fisher


Steve is executive vice president and general manager for B-to-C CRM at Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), since July 2021. Previously, he was senior vice president and chief technology officer of eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY), which he joined in 2014. Prior to joining eBay, he spent 10 years at Salesforce.com in executive leadership roles. Steve serves on the board of directors of Bill.com (NYSE: BILL), and previously served on the board of First Derivatives plc (LON: FDP). he holds a bachelor’s and master’s in computer science from Stanford University. He brings to our board expertise in executive management and technology.

 Cherylyn Lebon

Cherylyn Harley LeBon


Cherylyn has served since 2020 as a partner with Dunlap, Bennett & Ludwig, a law firm based in Washington, D.C, in the corporate and government contracts practice. Prior to joining the firm, she served for 10 years as president and CEO of KLAR Strategies, a business strategy firm that she founded. Cherylyn has extensive experience in senior executive roles with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and as counsel with the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and the U.S. House of Representatives. Additionally, she has spent several years working in the U.K. and Germany, including serving as an international transaction specialist for Mannesmann Corporation. She received a bachelor’s degree from Canisius College and a JD from the University of Wisconsin. She brings experience in international business and government relations.

 James Meeks

Jim Meeks


Jim served as chief operating officer of Copart from 1992 until his retirement in 2007. He and his family owned and operated the South Bay Salvage Pool, which Copart acquired in 1992. From 1991 to 2001, he was an officer, director and part-owner of CAS & Meeks, Inc., a towing company. With over thirty years of experience in the vehicle dismantling business and Copart experience, he brings to our board an understanding of the salvage market.

 Diane Morefield

Diane Morefield


Diane served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of CyrusOne (NASDAQ: CONE), a data center REIT, from 2015 to 2020. Previously, she served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Strategic Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: BEE) from 2010 to 2015. From 2005-2015, she served in several executive roles at Equity Office (NYSE: EOP). Diane also serves on the board of UDR (NYSE: UDR). She earned her bachelor’s in Accountancy from the University of Illinois, her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and is a Certified Public Accountant. She brings to our board her experience in real estate and technology companies, finance, and accounting.

 Carl Sparks

Carl Sparks


Carl serves as managing partner of Interlock Partners, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage transformative investments, starting in 2020. From 2016 to 2017, he was the chief executive officer of Academic Partnerships, a firm that helped public universities offer their programs online. From 2011 to 2014, He served as the chief executive officer of Travelocity Global. Earlier in his career, he served in senior executive roles at the Gilt Groupe including CEO, and was the chief marketing officer of Expedia.com (NASDAQ: EXPE). Carl started his career in strategy consulting with Boston Consulting Group. He previously served on the board of directors of Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc., Avis Budget Group (NASDAQ: CAR), and Vonage (NASDAQ: VG). Carl holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He advises our board in matters of business strategy and technology.

 Tom Tryforos

Thomas Tryforos


Tom has been a private investor since 2005. Between May 1991 and September 2004, he was a General Partner at Prescott Investors, Inc., a private investment firm. Tom also serves as a director of Credit Acceptance Corporation (NASDAQ: CACC). He received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He provides to the board his knowledge and experience in investment and financial matters.
